Programme
This research group focuses on the transformation of Biblical studies, early Jewish and Christian studies in emerging digital culture – how does the digital context affect research about these subjects and change the outcomes of such research. The link between digital humanities and research in sacred texts was initiated in the 1940s by Fr. Roberto Busa, although the field of Digital Humanities was given this title only in 2001. Our research group is linked to several research centers, with PhD, master and bachelor degrees and focuses especially on the transformation of Biblical studies through digital tools, the affordances of digital technology, and the increasing use of data-led research. Biblical studies, Early Jewish and Christian studies are progressively integrating digital humanities research methods to their fields and the purpose of this seminar is both to make visible such research and also to stimulate further discussion and research in this topic within EABS.
